Dr. Barakat received his medical degree from Jordan University of Science & Technology in Irbid, Jordan. He went to receive his Internal Medicine Residency at Seton Hall University & St. Michaels Medical Center in Newark, NJ, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Dr. Barakat is Board Certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
