Marc K. Taormina, M.D.
Medical Director & Principal Investigator

Marc Taormina , M.D., Primary Investigator, has devoted his time and expertise since 1982 to improving the lives of his patients. In addition to his regular practice Dr. Taormina founded the Midwest Health Foundation, is the Director of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America advisory board, is the administrative officer for the Medical Reserve Corps of Greater Kansas City, volunteers for Northland Care of Kansas City (providing specialty medical services to the needy), is a board member of the Greater Kansas City Hepatitis Alliance, is a member of the AGA Legacy Society, supporting research and funding for investigators in gastroenterological research, and advocates patient education through numerous activities and disciplines.

This commitment to patient care earned him the honor of being voted one of the “Top Gastroenterologists in America” according to the Consumer Research Council of America in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Dr. Taormina established Midwest Gastroenterology in 1998, Midwest Center for Clinical Research in 2009 and he has been in private practice in gastroenterology and hepatology since 1982.

Dr. Taormina is a Kansas City native. He graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Medicine in 1976 and went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Hawaii in 1980. Dr. Taormina’s postgraduate training in Gastroenterology / Hepatology was completed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., in 1982. He has been in private practice in the Kansas City area since 1985. Dr. Taormina is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (voluntarily recertified in 2008) in the specialties of Gastroenterology and Geriatric Medicine. He has attained Fellowship status in the American College of Gastroenterology, American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

He serves on the staff of the Midwest Physicians Surgery Center, Centerpoint Medical Center, Centerpoint Ambulatory Surgical Center, St. Luke’s Northland Hospital, Liberty Hospital and North Kansas City Hospital.

R. Wade McCullough, D.O.
Investigator

Dr. McCullough completed his medical school at the University of Health Sciences, now KCUMB. He went on to complete the Internal Medicine Residency program and a Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has been in private practice since graduating his fellowship.

Dr. McCullough is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.

He has been recognized as one of America’s Top Gastroenterologists by the Consumer Health Research Council and the Midwest Health Foundation.

Paula D. Stultz, ARNP-C
Sub-Investigator

Paula Stultz earned her Bachelor of Science and her Master of Science in Nursing at Pittsburg State University. She has eleven years experience in nursing and joined The Midwest Gastroenterology Partners practice in 2009. In 2010 she also began her role as Sub- Investigator for our research site.

Paula is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Her experience as a nurse practitioner has been in Internal Medicine as well as Geriatric Medicine. Her interests include acute, chronic and long-term care in the adult population.

 

Clinical Research Staff

Jody M. Ehrhardt, CCRC
Director of Clinical Research

Ms. Ehrhardt joined our staff as director in January 2010 after working for over 15 years in the pharmaceutical research field for various companies such as Quintiles and PRA International. She has worked in many capacities and in all phases of clinical research. She has also written an article on Effective Subject Requirement and Retention for the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) Monitor magazine and has received her coordinator certification from ACRP as well.

 

Jennifer Payne
CRC
Clinical Research Coordinator

Ms. Payne had been with Midwest Gastroenterology Partners for over 6 years before making the switch to the Midwest Center for Clinical Research department. Her previous clinical experience, of over 15 years, adds depth and detail to her coordination of our current IBD and other gastroenterology studies

Our full research staff is GCP, ICH, FDA and HIPAA trained, and IATA certified.
