Dear Midwest Gastroenterology Doctors,
It’s been said that on average, men pass gas an average of 17 times a day, and women pass gas an average of 9 times per day. So – is that true? Do men pass more gas than women?
Midwest Gastroenterology’s Answer:
Yes, it’s true. Men do tend to pass gas more than women. We honestly don’t know why. It could be diet, bigger GI tracts, and/or swallowing more air. But we can confirm that generally, this is true.
